Abolition in Teaching and Practice Symposium – Now Accepting Proposals
What to Include in Your Proposal
(200–300 words)
Explain how you are actively promoting abolition in your day-to-day work. This could include, but is not limited to:
-
Incorporating abolitionist frameworks in your teaching or curriculum development;
-
Practicing law in ways that challenge carceral logics or support decarceration efforts;
-
Engaging in community organizing or mutual aid rooted in abolitionist values;
-
Building institutional or grassroots alternatives to punishment-based systems;
-
Working at the intersections of race, gender, disability, immigration, and other systems of oppression within an abolitionist context.
This section is your opportunity to reflect on how abolition is not just a theory, but a lived and practiced commitment in your work.
Your presentation will be part of a collaborative space designed to foster dialogue, learning, and strategic exchange among legal professionals, scholars, organizers, and students. We encourage proposals that are personal, practice-based, and visionary.
